The port for Heraklion,Crete in Greece in right in town. You can easily and comfortably walk from the port to the shopping areas. The town of Heraklion feels a little bit like a maze, so you will have to walk up some side streets to get to the main shopping area. It is safe there, but a little gritty. Watch out for traffic, crazy drivers and motorcycles. I haven't written a blog post on Crete yet, but I will soon. Hope this helps for now.

Please note that there is a formatting issue between Internet Explorer and many blogs. This seem to have been made worse with IE8. The date field and other glitches may be obvious while you scroll through this blog. Hopefully fixes will come soon.

Traffic in Vietnam can be crazy. There are literally millions of motorcycles and virtually no stoplights. When crossing the street, you have to walk right through the motorcylces and they don't stop. There is another video in my "Video" post here showing how someone has to walk across.

About This Blog
Hello! I originally created this blog as a means of journalling my multi-month trip through Asia, Australia, New Zealand and other places. I mainly did this for friends and family, but it has turned into more than that with many emails from around the world. I tend to be upfront, but not unkind about the places I travel to. I do this because it is quite common for the travel industry to mislead people into believing a city or country is far different than the reality. I am a respectful and kind traveler, so I am never mean-spirited with my comments. I usually try to deal with things through humor or simple observations. Over the years I have been to many countries around the world, so I will try to do archive posts about those places as I get time. Please feel free to comment or suggest. Also, there may be the occasional typo or I may mislabel a place or picture, so don't be afraid to help me correct that. I can't promise that all of my posts will be exciting, but I'll do my best. Also, there are literally thousands of pictures in addition to the ones that I have posted on the blog. These photos can be found in my Flickr photo album and the link is on the Link bar at top and in most posts (for that country or city). Thanks for reading!
